RIGOLETTO project launched: Strengthening European microelectronics for future vehicles
The European research project RIGOLETTO, rigoletto-project.eu, has officially started, bringing together partners from industry and research to develop advanced microelectronics solutions for future vehicle architectures. The project focuses on open RISC-V-based computing platforms for software-defined, electrified and autonomous vehicles.
As vehicles become increasingly software-defined and autonomous, their computing systems must provide higher performance, safety, security and flexibility. RIGOLETTO addresses this challenge by investigating scalable reference processors, dedicated accelerators for applications such as artificial intelligence, and the software toolchains required for efficient and secure development.
By contributing to powerful and flexible processor solutions for modern vehicles, RIGOLETTO supports Europe’s innovation capacity, industrial competitiveness and technological sovereignty in the automotive and semiconductor sectors. The project therefore complements the broader European effort to strengthen key digital technologies and enable sustainable, AI-ready industrial systems.
