Industry5.0 is the coming standard going beyond mere efficiency and productivity as sole objectives. Reinforcing the contribution of industry to society while respecting the limits of our planet, it will round up previous developments since the beginning of industrialisation.
It all started in 1780 when steam propelled the initial Industrial Revolution; electricity powered the second; preliminary automation and machinery engineered the third; and cyber-physical systems shape the ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as Industry4.0.
While companies are still busy with the digital transformation integrating all entities in the supply chain through the IoT network, Industry5.0 is already on its way. In the words of the European Commission, it complements the Industry 4.0 approach by “putting research and innovation at the service of the transition to a sustainable, human-centric and resilient European industry”.
With its research results, AIMS5.0 will pave the way to Industry5.0 and enable manufacturers to square productivity with environmental responsibility leading to a viable eco-efficiency that meshes sustainability with competitive excellence.
